It is with great unhappiness that the spouse and children of Lucy Davis Martin announces her passing on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the age of 75. Her struggle with clinical problems in new many years showed her courage as she faced life’s troubles with a smile.
Lucy was born October 3, 1945, in Maple Fork, W.Va., to the late Russell and Mattie Davis. She graduated from Statesville Superior University and Mitchell Higher education. She then entered the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, wherever she acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Experiments. From Appalachian Condition College, she gained a Learn of Arts Diploma in Unique Education and learning and an Superior Diploma in Instructional Administration.
Lucy commenced her qualified job in the Iredell-Statesville Colleges in 1971 as a teacher at East Iredell Elementary College. Regionally, she was a Coordinator for Exceptional Youngsters. In 1987, Lucy was selected for Assistant Principal at North Iredell Substantial Faculty and later Principal at West Iredell Center School. In 1994, Lucy was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Human Sources for Iredell-Statesville Universities. She retired in 2004 just after a prolonged and thriving tenure in general public training.
Specialist corporations have been significant to Lucy as she stayed abreast of existing retention and employing procedures. She was an active member of the Countrywide Instructional Association, North Carolina Affiliation of Schooling, Iredell-Statesville Principals’ Association, North Carolina Association of Center Schools, and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Advancement. Lucy held a respected management function in each and every of these organizations.
In 1993, Lucy was selected as the To start with Union Educator Award Winner centered on outstanding contributions to the universities and neighborhood. She was a member of the Iredell-Statesville Efficient Faculties Group and the Regional Choice Committee for the North Carolina Educating Fellows System. She was appointed to the Governor’s Endeavor Drive on Excellence in Secondary Schooling. Duty was never lacking in her day she made time to perform in which she was needed
In addition to her mom and dad, Lucy was preceded in death by her siblings Lotus, Henry, Lloyd, and Sissy.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 56 yrs, Bill R. Martin Sr two sons, Billy R. Martin Jr. (Crystal) and John T. Martin. Siblings involve Lena Horton, Jane Treadway (Gay), and Bub Davis (Lorna). Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren, Justin Martin, Joseph Martin, Abby Martin, and Austin Martin and various nieces and nephews, which include nephew Dale Catlett, who was particular to her coronary heart. She is also loving survived by her cat, Calico and close friends, which include Susan Goodin and Ryan Goodin (Carry) and caregiver, Candis Miller.
A memorial company will be held at New Salem Methodist Church, wherever she was a member, on Saturday, July 17, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Todd McCollough officiating. The household will be checking out with buddies pursuing the provider.
